UnderConstruction Governments represent the way that a Nation interacts with its Citizens - each type has its own strengths and weaknesses. This allows you to focus on different aspects of gameplay based on your Government Type - for example, Autocracy provides bonuses related to your Military, while Theocracy concentrates on Religion and how it can improve your Nation. Each Government type has specific attributes that impact the game in their own way: * City Cap - the maximum number of Cities your Government will support. * Intrinsic Bonus - The unique ability provided by this Government. * Policy - Governments allow you to choose a Policy. These unique effects bolster and improve your Nation. You may change your Policy once per turn to match your needs. * Tax Rate - The Tax Rate options for your Nation, which adjusts the amount of Wealth generated by your Cities. {| class="wikitable" |style="background:#CFCFCF;"|Type |style="background:#CFCFCF;"|City Cap |style="background:#CFCFCF;"|Unlocked by: |style="background:#CFCFCF;" colspan="3" rowspan="1" |Taxes |style="background:#CFCFCF;"|Intrinsic Effects |style="background:#CFCFCF;" colspan="2" rowspan="1" |Policies |- | | | |Low |Med |High | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"| Autocracy |5 |Firearms |30 |50 |80 | +2 Force Cap for Land, Sea and Air Forces |1 | +15% Build Protection towards Triumph Improvements in your Capital |- | | | | | | |Unlocks War of Annihilation War Type |2 | +10% Strength to Forces within your territory |- | | | | | | | |3 |Military Improvements provide +4 Wealth and +5 Happiness |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Chiefdom |3 |Agronomy |0 |0 |0 | | | |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Communist State |6 |Assembly Lines |50 |60 |70 |Government Improvements provide +1 Happiness, +1 Security and -2 Knowledge |1 | +50% Build Production towards Government, Industry and Culture Improvements |- | | | | | | | |2 | +25% Craft Production to all crafting improvements in all Cities |- | | | | | | | |3 | -100% Force Maintenance Cost |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Direct Democracy |7 |Democracy |30 |50 |60 | +15% City Prosperity |1 |Musician, Artist and Writer Paragons provide +1 Happiness in all Cities |- | | | | | | | |2 |Scientist, Engineer and Pioneer Paragons provide +1 Research per Turn |- | | | | | | | |3 |Activist, Entrepeneur and Strategist Paragons provide +1 Wealth per Turn |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Empire |8 |Bureaucracy |20 |30 |40 | -10% Production in each City |1 | +10% Craft Production to all crafting Improvements in all Cities |- | | | | | | | |2 | +10% Build Protection in all Cities |- | | | | | | | |3 | +25% Strength to Land Forces within your territory |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Fascist State |5 |Mechanised Firepower |30 |60 |90 | +25% Strength to Forces within your territory |1 | +2 Research per Turn in all Cities |- | | | | | | |Unlocks War of Annihilation War Type |2 | +15% Production in all Cities |- | | | | | | | |3 | +2 Force Cap for Land, Sea and Air Forces |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Feudalist |6 |Feudalism |20 |30 |40 | +15% Harvest Production in all Cities |1 | +50% Build Production towards Military Improvements |- | | | | | | | +10 Security in all Cities |2 |Industry and Commerce Improvements provide +4 Wealth per Turn |- | | | | | | | |3 | +50% Siege Defense in all Cities |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Monarchy |4 |Code of Laws |30 |60 |90 | +10 Security in your Capital |1 | +5 Wealth per Turn for each City you own |- | | | | | | | +5 Prosperity in your Capital |2 |Your Palace provides +10 to all Quality of Life Stats in the City it is built |- | | | | | | | |3 | +50% City Siege Defense in your Capital |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Republic |6 |Philosophy |30 |50 |80 | +10 Knowledge in all Cities |1 |Activist, Artist, Scientist and Writer Paragons are more likely to appear |- | | | | | | | |2 | +25% Build Production towards Government, Culture and Science Improvements |- | | | | | | | |3 | +10 Happiness in all Cities |- | | | | | | | | | |- |style="background:#CFCFCF; text-align:center;"|
Theocracy |4 |Religion |20 |40 |60 | +2 Religion Spread Distance in your Capital |1 | +50% Build Production towards Religion Improvements |- | | | | | | | |2 |Religion Improvements provide +4 Wealth per Turn |- | | | | | | | |3 | +5 to all Quality of Life Stats in each City with a Religion Improvement |}
